The Autorun.inf worm normally enters your system when you are using a USB HDD or a USB PenDrive. This worm find this the  easiest path while you are using these drivers. So be very careful to handle these drives. Always try to scan these devices with an updated Antivirus.

Symptoms of this Autorun.inf Worm

This Autorun.inf worm make it's presence in the root of the directory and when you try to open the directory by double clicking on it then instead of opening the drive first this autorun.inf file opens up and is executed.

The most seen feature of this Autorun.inf file is trying to run a file called copy.exe. This is the most common one which has been seen in most of the computers which are having this worm. And when you double click any of your drive which are having this worm in its root then it ends up with an error message as shown below.

How to remove this Autorun.inf worm ?

For removing it the steps are very simple which an be grouped as under.

• First of all find the drives which are being affected by this worm. This can be done by mannualy clicking on it abd look if any error message as shown above appears or not.
• After you have checked your drives with this worm, then go for this.

  Open a Window Explorer and go to Tools > Folder Options... > View > and Check the box having Show hidden files and folders > Next go to Hide protected Operating system files(Recomended) and uncheck this box. Most can be understood from the figure given below.

After having done this you will see a Autorun.inf file residing in your system.

• By actually doing so you are enabling windows to show some extra information of your drives like Recycle Bin folder and System Volume Information to show along with the worm where it resides. Just delete this worm in each drives which is infected and restart your system to get your system free from this worm.
